A previously developed land is derelict and vacant but boosts its sustainable location in the urban area. Mca was instructed to bring this site back to viability by converting and extending this mixed-use site to retain but reduce the ground-floor retail and propose the remainder of the three-story site into residential accommodation comprising a mixture of one- and two-bedroom apartments. This approach not only breathes new life into the area but also aligns with sustainable urban development principles.

Shaheed Minar Monument | Victoria park, Portsmouth
After 2 years working closely with the council we have obtained planning approval for the erection of This Shaheed Minar Monument at Portsmouth Victoria Park. Those who don’t know, this martyr monument commemorates those killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952. The monument will be located to the south boundary adjacent to the railway lines. A semi-circular white stone plinth with three white stone screens, representing a mother and children bow-headed in front of a blood-red circle. This is a smaller version of a Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
MC Architectural Design are pleased to have worked closely with the Portsmouth Bangladesh Community (the client) and Robert Tutton Town Planning (planning consultants) to obtain this monument for all to share, especially the local Bangladeshi community.
